According to the 21st Century Framework, students need innovation skills to be able to live and work effectively in our complex and global society. Being able to think creatively, work creatively with others and implement innovations are critical 21st century skills (21st Century Framework). Preparing students in the early years will help ensure their ability to be productive 21st century citizens. This book will provide strategies, specific examples and practical tools to help ignite these important skills in ourselves and in early learners. Engaging families and communities in activities and events that encourage creativity and innovation will create an environment where these critical 21st century skills are fostered and valued. The use of technology discussed and described within the book will help redefine learning and encourage risk-taking, innovation and creativity. At the end of each chapter, there are reflection questions that can be used for individual reflection or learning community discussion.
